Claypotts Castle

Claypotts Castle

The castle is currently closed but you can still visit the exterior of the site.  Historic Scotland are working hard to gradually reopen the places you love while making sure the experience is safe for everyone.

Claypotts Castle was built by John Strachan between 1569 and 1588, and later owned by ‘Bonnie Dundee', John Graham of Claverhouse. Standing at the north eastern edge of Dundee, the Castle was inhabited into the 19th Century. The exterior of the castle can be viewed year-round and there are open days at Claypotts Castle throughout the year. Find out more on Historic Environment Scotland's website.
